Reciprocity

Imagine a vagrant alone and in poverty and in this particular nation. This nation is the wealthiest of all nations, with the happiest citizens, and very caring citizens. They take care of their own kind, people they love and such. No one loves this vagrant. So he is adrift a sea of un-saintly saints; hypocrites in their regard for pleasure and charity for others, because of reciprocity. They do not give aid because the vagrant has nothing to offer in return nor had anything in the first place—namely that reciprocated act known as “love” “He is a stranger, and that is that, let us return to our reveries”, they say. The vagrant goes on not loving the sea of happy citizens because they are obnoxious in their ways; his vanity, their vanity, reciprocity.

Human nature is fraught with such curious things.
